Mr Nikolaos Tzerakis is an incredibly skilled and experienced consultant neurosurgeon who has participated in over 4000 cranial and spinal operations. He is accomplished at treating many conditions: this includes, but is not limited to, spinal trauma, spinal cancer, trigeminal neuralgia, brain aneurysms and Chiari malformations.
After achieving his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1995, Mr Tzerakis completed his neurosurgical training in Athens, Greece in 2004. During this period, he gained experience in about 1000 operations and was ultimately able to perform many without supervision After this, he continued his specialist training in the UK at Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he expanded his skill set and knowledge, ultimately giving him experience in all neurosurgical subspecialties including paediatric neurosurgery, complex spinal neurosurgery and functional neurosurgery.
Mr Tzerakis greatly contributes to neurology research: he has published many peer-reviewed publications in renowned scientific journals and is also a peer-reviewer for eight journals. He is the principal investigator in many clinical trials and he also presents at international and national congresses. What's more, he has extensive teaching experience: he is the lead of educational meetings in the Neurosurgical Department of University Hospital of North Staffordshire and provides lessons to specialist trainees at Newcastle General Hospital in several aspects of Neurosurgery.
