Professional statement
Dr Owen Miller is a highly regarded and vastly experienced Consultant in Paediatric and Fetal Cardiology based in London. He specialises in all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease in children, adolescents and young adults. Typical reasons for referral include heart murmurs, palpitations, chest pain, syncope in children, family history of heart problems, as well as assessment and review of patients with known congenital heart disease.
Dr Miller is one of Europe’s leading paediatrics cardiologists, including being responsible for certification and accreditation of congenital heart ultrasound across Europe. Dr Miller provides a comprehensive cardiac diagnostic service including echocardiography (heart ultrasound), electrocardiography (ECG), ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter) and exercise stress testing.
Dr Miller consults privately from the Westminster Bridge Consulting Rooms on the St Thomas Hospital campus and from the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, adjacent to St Thomas’ Hospital.
In his Paediatric Cardiology private practice, where he sees babies, children and adolescents, he personally performs diagnostic echocardiography and ECG in the consulting room without any need for the family to travel to other facilities.
In his Fetal Cardiology private practice, Dr Miller personally performs detailed fetal cardiac ultrasound using state of the art equipment, and with access to world-leading fetal cardiac MRI.
Dr Miller trained in Sydney, Zurich and London, achieving triple specialist qualifications in general paediatrics, paediatric intensive care and paediatric cardiology, working at The Children’s Hospital Sydney, the Kinderspital Zurich and Great Ormond Street Hospital London. With a demonstrated commitment to excellence in cardiology, Dr Miller obtained his undergraduate degree in Australia from the University of Newcastle.
Dr Miller has also been recognised with fellowships to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Dr Miller has practised as a consultant since 1993, and has held distinguished senior leadership positions throughout this extensive tenure. Notably, Dr Miller was head of service for paediatric cardiology at Evelina London Children’s Hospital (2012 to 2016); Director of Specialist Networks (2016-2019), Clinical Director for the GSTT-ELCH Congenital Heart Disease Network(2019 to 2022), Clinical Director for Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care across Evelina London Children’s Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital 2022-24, as well as being Evelina London Director of International Services since 2016.
