Dr Piers Clifford is a highly regarded consultant cardiologist, with over 35 years of experience, currently practising in London, Great Missenden and High Wycombe. His expertise encompasses a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, stent procedures, hypertension management, coronary angioplasty, and atrial fibrillation.
Dr Clifford commenced his medical career with a first-class degree in Physiological Sciences & Medicine from Oxford University, followed by his MBBS degree from St Mary's Hospital, Oxford in 1987. Upon completion of his initial medical studies, he undertook medical training at the prestigious St Mary's Hospital in London, followed by subspecialist training in in cardiology and general internal medicine at the renowned Hammersmith Hospital, which led to his appointment as a consultant cardiologist in 1999.
In addition to the aforementioned areas, he takes a special interest in syncope (fainting), chest pain, breathlessness and inherited cardiomyopathies.
Furthermore, alongside his clinical practice, Dr Clifford actively contributes to the academic and research aspects of cardiology. He serves as an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London and plays a pivotal role in teaching undergraduate students at Oxford Deanery. He also actively participates in multiple professional organisations including the British Cardiovascular Society, British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, American Heart Association, and the Royal Society of Medicine.
