Mr Praveen Kumar is a highly experienced and respected Consultant Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon based in Berkshire, offering expert private care at Circle Reading Hospital, Berkshire Independent Hospital, Reading, and Princess Margaret Hospital, Windsor.

Mr Kumar specialises in advanced cataract and refractive lens surgery, offering the latest surgical techniques to help patients achieve the best possible visual outcomes. He also provides specialist care for diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusions, inflammatory eye conditions such as uveitis, and other complex retinal disorders.He is highly skilled in administering the full range of intravitreal injections, including anti-VEGF treatments and sustained-release steroid implants such as Ozurdex and Iluvien, delivering sight-saving treatment for a wide spectrum of retinal conditions.

His expertise extends to a variety of laser treatments, including retinal laser procedures, selective laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma, and YAG laser capsulotomy following cataract surgery. In addition, Mr Kumar has considerable experience in the assessment and management of acute and emergency eye conditions, ensuring patients receive prompt and effective treatment when urgent care is required. He is deft in treatment for Blepharitis, Dry Eyes, removal of lumps, cysts, skin tags from eye lids.

Mr Kumar graduated with an MBBS from the University of Madras before completing specialist ophthalmology training at the prestigious Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), where he earned both a Diploma and a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology. He subsequently completed a fellowship at the internationally renowned Aravind Eye Hospital, refining his expertise in cataract surgery and the management of complex retinal diseases.

Following his move to the United Kingdom, Mr Kumar undertook a clinical attachment at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, before completing further specialist training at leading ophthalmic centres across the UK. This extensive training has provided him with broad expertise across all aspects of ophthalmology and has helped shape his reputation as a highly skilled and versatile eye surgeon.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Kumar is actively involved in education, training, and professional development. He is a member of several esteemed professional organisations, including British, European and American associations related to eye surgeons actively participating and keeping himself up to date with latest trends in diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. Apart from being a GMC-recognised trainer, Mr.Kumar also serves as College Tutor, and Clinical Supervisor, as he is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of eye specialists.
