Miss Rachel O'Connell

Miss Rachel O’Connell is a highly skilled consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon who privately practises at Leaders in Breast Surgery at Women's Health Centre (HCA), while her NHS base is The Royal Marsden NHS Trust. She specialises in breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction and oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, with a particular focus on achieving the best possible cosmetic outcomes through innovative surgical techniques. Her expertise also extends to breast lift (mastopexy) and breast reduction procedures, offering patients a comprehensive approach to breast care.

Miss O’Connell, who graduated from the University of Bristol's Medical School in 2007 with an MB ChB, completed her surgical training within the London Deanery before undertaking an MD (Res) at The Royal Marsden and the Institute of Cancer Research. This research degree, funded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, centred on improving cosmetic outcomes after breast cancer surgery. She further honed her expertise with an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship at The Royal Marsden, completing it in 2020/21.

Miss O’Connell has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work at national and international conferences, earning multiple awards for her research. She collaborates closely with plastic surgeons at The Royal Marsden to provide patients with a wide range of reconstructive options, ensuring care is tailored to the individual.
