Dr Renata Pires is a highly qualified consultant clinical and health psychologist working privately from Keats House, London Bridge and Victoria Square, St Albans. Dr Renata specialises in cognitive behavioural therapy, anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, mindfulness-based therapy, clinical health psychology and long-term conditions including functional neurology. She works with both adolescents over the age of 16 and adults with mental health difficulties, and has a long track record of delivering high quality and evidence based mental health services both across sectors.
Dr Pires, who is a fully accredited EMDR-trained specialist therapist, completed all her training in psychology, and is a highly qualified and experienced psychologist with four university degrees. She has obtained her graduate degree in Psychology and Human Resources management and went on to complete a Masters of Science in Health Psychology at the University of Bath. She pursued her first doctorate in Health Psychology at City University, London and during this time, she gained experience working for the NHS in the fields of addictions and chronic disease management. She completed her second doctorate in clinical psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London and is now a registered clinical and health psychologist. The wide scope of her training has given her the tools and expertise to widen her clinical practice across the lifespan through working with a number of clinical presentations across organisations. Her thesis showcases her interest in the interplay between body and mind, and over the years, has published her work in a number of peer-reviews articles, as well as a book, and a chapter in the fields of clinical health psychology including addictions and the management of long-term conditions.
Dr Pires has worked for the NHS since 2003 and has held a number of senior clinical positions. She is currently the head of psychology for a reputable London-based NHS trust, and leads psychology services across three teaching hospitals. She has also worked in clinical academic positions offering teaching, training, consultancy and research supervision. She has been a director for a HCPC approved professional doctoral programme in health psychology, recognised by the British Psychological Society in City University for nearly 10 consecutive years.
Dr Pires is world-renowned, and presents at international conferences and has external examiner appointments for both the University of Malta and Middlesex University in London. She is an editor for a psychiatry journal and a peer-reviewer for high impact scientific journals. She offers safe, supportive, and effective treatments based on client's needs and preferences by integrating a number of evidence-based models and approaches including CBT, mindfulness based therapy, compassionate focused therapy, systemic therapy, brief psychodynamic, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She is an associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
