Mr Ryan Chin Taw Cheong

Mr Ryan Chin Taw Cheong is a consultant ENT and sub-specialist sleep surgeon at the renowned Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Notably, he is the only consultant ENT surgeon in London and in the United Kingdom (UK) with a full-time NHS practice exclusively dedicated to snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. He practices privately at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Portland Place Outpatient Centre.

A highly accomplished surgeon, Mr Cheong has received multiple awards from esteemed organisations such as the Royal Society of Medicine, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and the British Rhinological Society. His advanced surgical training spans the entire spectrum of ENT, honed at prestigious institutions including the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital.

A leader in his field, Mr Cheong achieved a groundbreaking milestone by performing the first female Inspire hypoglossal nerve stimulator implant and the first Genio Nyxoah hypoglossal nerve stimulator implants for sleep apnoea in the UK. He has been featured on the BBC, Sky News, The Times, The Guardian and multiple other major media outlets for his pioneering work in sleep apnoea. He also established the UK’s first International Sleep Surgery Course, accredited by ENT-UK, and is its Founder and Course Director. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being the first UK surgeon to complete the Royal Society of Medicine Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship at Stanford University Hospital Sleep Medicine Division and the Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust Travelling Fellowship at the Asia Sleep Surgery Centre in Singapore.

Mr Cheong is widely recognised for his contributions to academic medicine, delivering over 40 presentations at international and national forums and publishing in high-impact journals such as The Lancet and JAMA. An internationally invited speaker at scientific meetings, he is also deeply committed to training the next generation of ENT surgeons. His leadership roles in national ENT societies, including the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery, further reflect his dedication to advancing the specialty.
