Dr Sakura Hingley

Dr Sakura Hingley is an experienced consultant paediatrician with specialist expertise in paediatric emergency medicine. She works as a consultant in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and also offers private general paediatric consultations for babies, children, and adolescents at The Princess Margaret Hospital. She is widely recognised for her calm, considered manner and her dedication to providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care tailored to each child and their family.

She has broad experience in assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of general paediatric conditions. Dr Hingley frequently supports families with common childhood concerns such as infections, fevers, respiratory and digestive symptoms, feeding issues, allergies, and skin conditions. Her emergency medicine background enables her to confidently evaluate unwell children, identify when further investigation or escalation is needed, and offer clear reassurance and guidance when care at home is appropriate.

With specialist training in paediatric emergency medicine and an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine, she has a particular interest in minor injuries and sports-related conditions in children. She is highly experienced in managing soft tissue injuries, sprains, fractures, overuse injuries, and other musculoskeletal problems, helping young patients recover safely and return to physical activity with confidence.

In addition to her private work, Dr Hingley holds a senior NHS position as service lead for Acute Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This role keeps her closely involved in the care of children with complex, urgent, and undifferentiated conditions, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, clinical governance, and high-quality, family-centred care.

She also serves as the site medical lead for a hospital-at-home service at Chelsea and Westminster, supporting children to receive nurse-led care in their own homes when appropriate, with full consultant oversight. This approach allows families to benefit from high-quality medical care in a familiar setting, supported by clear management plans and safety-netting advice.

Education and communication are central to her work. Dr Hingley has extensive experience teaching and mentoring paediatric and emergency medicine trainees, as well as advanced nurse practitioners, and is known for her approachable nature and clear, sensitive communication style.

She is fluent in English and Japanese, speaks conversational German, and has significant experience caring for families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Outside of her clinical work, she is a keen long-distance runner and open water swimmer, interests that contribute to her holistic perspective on health, resilience, and recovery at all ages.
