Dr Salim Shafeek is an expert haematologist and haemato-oncologist in the West Midlands region in Birmingham, Worcester and Droitwich, who holds a special interest in lymphoma and myeloma. He treats general haematology, including haemato-oncology, thrombosis-haemostasis, red cell disorders and acute and chronic leukaemia.
Dr Shafeek trained in haemato-oncology in the West Midlands regional rotation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham City Hospital and the University Hospital Coventry and Warwick from 1995 until 2001. He is currently the Clinical Director for the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust and is actively involved in the restructuring of the cancer network in the county.
Dr Shafeek teaches both undergraduates and postgraduates through the University of Birmingham and was an examiner for the MRCP (UK) Royal College of Physicians London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Currently examiner for FRCPath (Haematology). He has close links with the Cure Leukaemia charity and is involved in fundraising activities and fundraising for the breast cancer unit in Worcester.
