Mr Srinivasan Subramaniam is a respected Nottingham based consultant Eye Surgeon who has over 20 years of experience. He practices privately at The Park Hospital and The Spire Hospital in Nottingham. He specialises in a wide range of areas, including cataract surgery with the use of standard and premium intraocular lenses. He is particularly interested in reducing or eliminating dependence on glasses following cataract surgery (refractive cataract surgery). He also does other refractive procedures like refractive lens exchange with premium lenses or laser eye surgery to reduce or eliminate spectacle dependence and is one of the most experienced specialists in the region for this.
He is one of the few surgeons nationwide who has had training and experience in laser cataract surgery. He also performs other laser treatments like and YAG laser capsulotomy and laser glaucoma treatments like Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT). He treats patients with glaucoma and patients with lid problems. He has experience in oculoplastic procedures like Blepharoplasty.
Over his career, Mr Subramaniam has performed over 20,000 cataract and refractive laser surgical procedures. He has had specialist training in cataract and refractive surgery making him an expert in his field. In recognition of this he held the role of honorary visiting senior lecturer in the School of Life & Health Sciences at Aston University for 12 years. He has published extensively and has conducted courses in premium lens usage following cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange at International meetings and conferences.
Mr Subramaniam is an examiner for several Royal Colleges. He was in the first cohort of doctors who took and passed the assessment of Competence in Laser refractive Surgery, conducted by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is the only surgeon in The East Midlands with this further professional qualification from The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is an assessor for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists for competence of other surgeons in refractive surgery.
A trainer of junior doctors, he has been a member of the Microsurgical Training Faculty of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for over 15 years. He has been the lead for cataract surgery at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust for several years and advises and helps colleagues on many complex issues regarding cataract surgery.

- Mr Subramaniam was a superb surgeon who explained everything involved in the operation and made me feel very comfortable and feel in safe hands. He improved my astigmatism from minus 8.9 to minus 1. Amazing result and I'm exceptionally pleased with the outcome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. The only issue with the Park Hospital was that a key piece of equipment wasn't working even though the hospital assured Mr Subramaniam it had been repaired. Overall however I'm really pleased.
