Mr Sumith Perera

Mr. Sumith Perera is a distinguished consultant ophthalmic surgeon renowned for his exceptional expertise in cataract and refractive surgeries. With over 30 years of clinical experience, he has performed more than 30,000 procedures, establishing himself as one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK.

After earning his primary medical degree, Mr. Perera won a prestigious World Health Organization scholarship to study Ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology in London. He completed his specialist training in the South Thames region and at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

In 2001, Mr. Perera trained in LASIK surgery in Chicago, USA, becoming one of the earliest surgeons to perform LASIK in England. He holds the Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and was awarded a distinction upon completing the University of Ulster Refractive Surgery Course.

Mr. Perera served as a substantive consultant ophthalmic surgeon with a special interest in cataract surgery and emergency eye care at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading and the Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor. He is now in full time private practice.
