Dr Susan Robinson

Dr Susan Robinson is a consultant haematologist in central London with expertise in Medical Haematology including interpretation of blood tests, investigation of anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hyperferritinaemia, low blood count and other blood disorders and treats iron deficiency and haemochromatosis. She privately practises at Private Care at Guy’s, HCA Healthcare UK London Bridge Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital at Guy's and St Thomas' Specialist Care, while her NHS base is Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust where she specialises in Medical Haematology: Obstetric Haematology and Transfusion Medicine.

Dr Robinson manages patients with both common and complex haematological conditions, with a particular focus on the investigation of abnormal blood test results. Her clinical practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia, anaemia of chronic disease, vitamin B12 and folate deficiency, and immune thrombocytopenia. She also has specialist expertise in women’s health, including obstetric haematology, obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome and the management of post-partum anaemia, as well as the safe and appropriate use of blood transfusion.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Robinson holds several senior leadership roles within her NHS practice. She serves as clinical lead for pathology and clinic director, contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality haematology and transfusion services. Her work in obstetric haematology supports the care of women before, during and after pregnancy, ensuring appropriate diagnosis and management of haematological conditions in this setting.

Dr Robinson completed her medical training at King’s College London and specialist training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She conducted post graduate research at King’s College London and was awarded an MDRes. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) and Physicians (FRCP) and maintains active involvement in professional organisations, including the British Society of Haematology and the British Blood Transfusion Society. She has also held national leadership roles, including chair of the British Society of Haematology Transfusion Task Force and co-chair of the National Blood Transfusion Committee anaemia working group, reflecting her contribution to advancing standards of care in haematology and transfusion medicine.

In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Dr Robinson is actively involved in research, education and professional development. She has authored several research papers and regularly presents at national and international conferences, contributing to ongoing developments in her field.

Dr Robinson has been recognised for her contribution to clinical practice with Clinical Excellence Awards 2021 and 2026. She is committed to delivering clear, evidence-based care, supporting patients through investigation, diagnosis and treatment of haematological conditions.
