Mr Sven Putnis

Mr Sven Putnis is a leading consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon with expertise in treating a wide range of sports-related and degenerative knee conditions. He manages injuries such as meniscal tears, cartilage damage, and ligament ruptures, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, using minimally invasive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery or reconstructive procedures.

For patients with joint damage caused by conditions such as osteoarthritis (OA), he offers joint-preserving treatments, including advanced arthroscopic procedures and periarticular realignment osteotomy, designed to reduce pain and help slow the progression of joint deterioration. In cases of advanced joint damage, Mr Putnis specialises in both partial and total knee replacement surgery.

He uses advanced technology, 3D imaging, and the option for robotic-arm-assisted surgery. These optimise implant positioning and surgical precision. He also assesses and treats problematic knee replacements performed elsewhere, including revision knee replacement procedures when necessary.

Mr Putnis has over 15 years of experience in knee surgery and has been a consultant knee specialist since 2019. He completed a six-year Specialist Training Programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery through University College London Hospitals in the UK, gaining experience across several leading London hospitals. He then undertook the prestigious Australian Orthopaedic Association Clinical and Research Knee Fellowship at the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Putnis has contributed extensively to orthopaedic research, with more than 60 publications, peer reviews for leading medical journals, and involvement in international research collaborations. His evidence-based approach and advanced surgical expertise have established him as a recognised leader in knee surgery.
