Professor Vickie Lee

Professor Vickie Lee is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare and London North West University Healthcare NHS Trusts, and Professor of Practice (Ophthalmology) at Imperial College London.

She specialises in the treatment of orbital, lacrimal and eyelid conditions — including cosmetic procedures — as well as watering and dry eyes, and is a leading authority on orbital trauma and thyroid eye disease (TED). As the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society's National Lead for TED, she authored the national TED guidelines and led the compilation of the national directory for thyroid eye services. She also leads multidisciplinary TED services across three NHS hospitals, work that has earned international recognition.

Professor Lee is UK Lead Investigator and Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials evaluating novel treatments for thyroid eye disease. She has published extensively on TED and orbital trauma in major peer-reviewed journals and textbooks and is regularly invited to chair sessions and lecture at national and international conferences on topics ranging from thyroid eye disease and orbital and facial trauma to cosmetic rejuvenation.

She is also one of a small group of lacrimal specialists highly experienced in endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy for tear duct obstruction.

Alongside her clinical work, Professor Lee collaborates closely with an extensive network of specialists across other medical and surgical disciplines to ensure her patients have access to the best possible multidisciplinary care. She leads Ophthalmology undergraduate teaching at Imperial College Medical School and, with colleagues, runs a well-regarded oculoplastic fellowship programme for the next generation of oculoplastic surgeons.

Professor Lee is a Founder Member of the British Oculoplastic Plastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) and represented her subspecialty on the Scientific Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and at NICE Committee.
