Dr Vinod Elangasinghe

Dr Vinod Elangasinghe is a leading consultant adult & paediatric dermatologist practising at the BMI Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. His areas of expertise include skin cancer, blemishes and birthmarks, rashes, ulcers, skin allergies and hair and nail problems.

Following the completion of his MBBS in 2001, Dr Elangasinghe worked in hospitals across the UK as part of his specialist training. Upon completion, he obtained membership from the Royal College of Physicians in 2007 (MRCP). During his training years, he gained a considerable amount of general medical experience as well as intensive care and cardiology experience. He is now considered an expert in medical dermatology dealing with many skin conditions that have connections to internal medical problems. In 2010, he took a position as a full-time NHS consultant in dermatology right after obtaining his Joint Royal College Training accreditation (MRCP Derm UK) and in 2014, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).

As well as practising as a consultant, he is also an associate editor for the well-renowned dermatology journal, Clinical Experimental Dermatology and often trains international dermatologists in training. Throughout his medical training and career, Dr Elangasinghe has authored many dermatological publications and has been invited to present at both national and international conferences. He is also actively involved in research and is currently researching the effect of COVID-19 on immunological skin disease in children. His approach to treatment incorporates the most advanced, innovative treatments along with well-trusted, traditional ones, providing patients with a range of treatment options.
