Blood in semen

Specialty of Andrology

Hematospermia or haemospermia is the presence of blood in semen, whether visible or not. The symptoms that usually precede this pathology can range from blood in the urine to painful ejaculation, swelling in the scrotum or inguinal area, fever or chills, etc. The cause cannot always be determined, although it is usually related to an inflammation of the seminal vesicles caused by an infection or injury. It may also be the sign of a disease in some area of the genital tract.
