Dr. Maite Ferrin - Autism Diagnosis

Description:

Dr. Maite Ferrin, First Bridge's Consultant Child Psychiatrist, discusses autism diagnosis at our "Meet the Team" event on September 25, 2019. First Bridge Centre is the first provider in the UK of combined diagnostic and therapy services for children with ASD. We offer centre-based, early-years, interdisciplinary, outcomes-focused therapy-based programs underpinned by the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis. We also provide integrated access to crucial diagnostic and relevant interdisciplinary medical services through our partnership with Re:Cognition Health. Our Thrive Full-day and Nurture Half-day treatment programs run 5 days per week (Monday – Friday) in our purpose-built centre in London opening in 2020. Additional top-up sessions are available in after school hours 4.30pm – 6.30pm Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays from 9am until 4pm. Our therapy team will work together as part of a wider interdisciplinary team combining Applied Behaviour Analysis, Positive Behaviour Support, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and include social skills and play therapy groups. All of our programs are individually tailored for the disciplines of each child’s needs. Our unique treatment and teaching curriculum is aimed at developing skills that are not typically and formally taught at schools in the UK. We follow the ABA model that is a continuously revised and improved evidence-based practice. This model encourages the use of more natural social transitioning in which learning opportunities are initiated by the child. Our goal is to equip children with all the essential foundation skills necessary for ongoing development and progress. Our therapy philosophy is driven by the following statement: “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, we should teach the way they learn.” We are resolved to redefine the way that ASD is viewed and treated, by taking the most progressive and holistic approach to the children in our care and their families. www.firstbridgecentre.com
