Dr Iqbal Malik has a CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA) at One Welbeck Heart Health (OWHH)

Description:

I had a CTCA (CT coronary angiogram). Why? Because I wanted to assess my coronary arteries fully, and non-invasively. How? CTCA involves going into A CT scanner and having dye injected into a vein. Once the dye gets to the heart, a picture is taken. Is it dangerous? No. the dye can hurt the kidneys if you have kideny damage already. The radiation dose is tyhe same as you will get on a trans-atlantic flight. Where did I do it? At my main practice at One Welbeck Heart Health (OWHH) in London. Can anyone have one? No- it is not "Open-Access" to patients and GPs. It should be ordered by a specialist. Thus is so that the alternatives can me discussed: 1. Stress tests: --Exercise Treadmill/Bike --Stress echocardiography --Stress MRI scanning --Myocardial Prefusion scanning 2. Anatomical tests: --MR angiography --Invasive angiography --CTCA
