TMS treatment for OCD - second course

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a treatment option for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) that Smart TMS London offers. It’s a procedure that doesn’t involve surgery or medication, but uses magnetic waves to target the parts of the brain that are responsible for obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviours, with the aim of breaking the cycle.

How does TMS work in the treatment of OCD?

Approximately 40% of individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) do not experience positive outcomes from traditional treatments like psychotherapy and antidepressant medication.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) represents an innovative approach to treating OCD. This therapy does not require surgery or medication, but instead utilises magnetic waves to calm the specific regions of the brain responsible for obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviours.

What should I expect from the second course of TMS treatment for OCD?

The TMS treatment provided by Smart TMS London usually takes up to 30 sessions. These are divided into three parts of ten sessions each.

The second course is the second part of 10 sessions

Each session should last around 30 minutes, with the sessions being completed over a period of three to six weeks, sometimes having more than one session per day.

Following each TMS session, you will have a review with one of the clinicians at the Smart TMS clinic.

What are the results of TMS treatment for OCD?

Based on research findings, it has been found that 6 out of 10 people with treatment-resistant OCD who undergo TMS treatment with Smart TMS will experience benefits, leading to a reduction in symptoms.

Additionally, 3 out of 10 people may achieve remission. TMS offers advantages over medication by presenting fewer side effects. However, it is important to note that treatment outcomes may vary among individuals based on their unique experiences with the condition.

How much does the second course of TMS for OCD cost?

The second course of TMS treatment for OCD at Smart TMS London costs £3000.

All patients are required to have an initial assessment with one of the consultants at Smart TMS before commencing with the TMS treatment. An initial assessment costs £350.

Please note that treatment cannot commence until forms and an assessment have been completed with a clinician to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
