Dr Himender Makker

Professional statement

Dr Himender Makker is consultant respiratory physician whose area of expertise is sleep medicine, specifically the management of sleep apnoea. He also treats other respiratory-related conditions such as difficult asthma and lung cancer, and is currently the lead clinician for lung cancer service in North Middlesex. There he also established a CDRC-funded research group which focused on neuropsychological impairment in sleep apnoea. Aside from his clinical and research work, he is dedicated to raising awareness of sleep-disordered breathing. He publishes articles for newspapers and magazines, and is interviewed on TV and radio on the topic. Dr Makker also educates peers and future healthcare professionals and teaches sleep-related courses at University College London.
