Ian Repton is a highly regarded physiotherapist based in London who specialises in post-operative recovery, massage therapy and orthopaedic rehabilitation, alongside treatment for conditions such as back pain and sciatica. Ian is trained in sports massage, kinesio-taping, dry needling and hydrotherapy, and is also qualified to perform work station assessments.
Ian, who consults privately at the renowned Octopus Clinic, qualified in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Pretoria, where he additionally completed two years of a Human Movement Science degree. Since then, Ian has acquired proficiency as a consultant senior physiotherapist, first within private practices in South Africa - including his own successful physiotherapy clinic - and then within elite sports.
Ian's client group has notably included professional sports teams such as the Northern Titans Cricket, Northern Blues Hockey and Worcestershire County Cricket Club, as well as golfers Ernie Els and George Coetzee. Furthermore, he also served as the consultant physiotherapist for the GB gymnastics team during their SA tour.
As a physiotherapist, Ian believes in going back to the basics. He employs a careful balance of manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation, performing manual mobilisation of the soft tissue followed by a gradual increase in active rehabilitation exercises that bring his patients back to full health. Afterwards, Ian also assists his patients in their return to their beloved sports, working in partnership with consultant orthopaedic surgeons and other clinicians to ensure the best possible outcomes.
