Dr John Philip O’Dwyer is a highly respected consultant neurologist based in London and Farnham. He is renowned for his expertise in headache, migraine, epilepsy and Botulinum toxin therapy. He additionally specialises in dizziness, vertigo and stroke.

Dr O’Dwyer qualified in medicine, surgery and obstetrics from Trinity College Dublin in 1998 before completing further specialist training in neurology, including a doctorate in neuroscience and a fellowship in movement disorders. He also achieved membership of the Royal College of Ireland and completed the College’s neurology residency program. After relocating to the UK, Dr O’Dwyer was appointed as a consultant neurologist at several London hospitals, including St George’s University Hospitals NHS Trust. He additionally served for a number of years at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and later became head of the specialty of neurology. With a wealth of clinical experience and expertise in his field, Dr O’Dwyer is passionate about restoring quality of life with effective treatment solutions for patients suffering from neurological conditions. He sees patients in private practice in London at St John and St Elizabeth Hospital and The Lister Hospital, and in Farnham at Spire Clare Park Hospital.

Dr O’Dwyer is the British Army’s Consultant Neurology Advisor and is an Officer of the Royal Army Medical Corps, with wide ranging expertise in military neurology. He completed his phase one Queen’s Commission officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2016 and more recently was awarded a Master’s in military leadership and business administration and management, attaining level 7 recognised Leadership and Command in association with King’s College London.

Dr O’Dwyer has published numerous academic articles which appear in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he is actively involved in research and acts as principal investigator for several key national clinical trials in epilepsy. He has also previously served as a specialist advisor for the NHS and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on therapeutic strategies. He additionally writes a neurology blog, in which he shares his expertise.
