Mr Jyotin Pandit

About me

Mr Pandit founded Moor Eye Care in 2015 to improve outcomes for dry eye patients and to give optimal visual results for those undergoing cataract surgery. He is also keenly aware of the challenges patients face in obtaining care through the traditional NHS system and wanted to offer an alternate pathway for care. He has always been dedicated to obtaining a high standard for his patients throughout his career and feels that the creation of Moor Eye Care will allow him to continue this mission.

Mr Pandit began his medical career at the University of Wales, Cardiff where he obtained his primary medical qualification in 1988. He began his ophthalmology career in Colchester, Essex as a Senior House Officer, before entering specialist training in the South West region of England at Torbay Hospital, Devon. He passed the examination to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1993. He won a scholarship from the Wellcome Trust to study human tears at the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology and subsequently obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford in 2003. He completed his specialist training at hospitals in Plymouth and Bristol and then undertook further surgical training in Corneal and External Eye Diseases under Mr Sheraz Daya at the Queen Victoria hospital in East Grinstead, a supra-regional and national referral centre for ocular surface diseases. Following, Dr Pandit decided to pursue his special interest – laser refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK) in the private sector.

In 2005 he accepted the post of Lead Ophthalmologist for the Health Services Authority of the Cayman Islands. In that position, Mr Pandit was able to implement a technologically advanced ophthalmology service over a period of 6 years.

He had the opportunity to utilise the latest lens technology to provide hundreds of cataract patients with freedom from glasses with Alcon’s ReStor multifocal lenses, multifocal toric lenses and diamond knife surgery (astigmatic keratotomy) for astigmatism.

He was drawn back to the UK by the challenge of setting up a new cataract service at Peninsula Treatment Centre, Plymouth for Care UK. After successfully completing this he then gathered experience in the NHS working at hospitals in the Southwest region. In 2016 He was appointed Ophthalmology Consultant at the Great Western Hospital Swindon.
