Mr Neill Patani is an experienced consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon based in central London. He specialises in the management of breast cancer and all aspects of breast disease, including pain, infection, benign conditions and risk-reduction strategies. Mr Patani practises privately at The London Breast Institute, Princess Grace Hospital for HCA Healthcare and at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust.
He has experience with a range of oncoplastic breast conserving techniques and reconstruction options, including nipple-sparing approaches and one-stage pre-pectoral implant reconstruction with acellular dermal matrix, nipple reconstruction, fat transfer and symmetrisation surgery. Mr Patani completed his training with oncoplastic fellowships and specialist placements at leading breast cancer centres including the Royal Marsden Hospital, Charing Cross (Imperial College NHS Trust), St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Hospitals, among others.
He maintains an active interest in laboratory, translational and clinical breast cancer research, with more than 50 peer reviewed publications, serving on the Academic and Research Committee for the Association of Breast Surgery. Following his BSc in Tumour Biology from University College London (UCL) and PhD from The Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital.
Mr Patani is currrently an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL Institute for Women's Health, Department of Women’s Cancer, and visiting Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellow at The Francis Crick Institute in the Oncogenes and Tumour Metabolism Laboratory. Neill is also a Specialist Breast Advisor to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) and was an Honorary Clinical Fellow for the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme reviewing breast litigation.
