Dr Shibani Nicum

Professional statement

Dr Shibani Nicum is an esteemed consultant medical oncologist at Leaders in Oncology Care. She specialises in ovarian cancer and gynaecological cancer. She completed her training at The Royal Marsden Hospital and worked as a consultant in Oxford from 2009 before joining London in 2021.
 
Dr Nicum holds leadership roles as the chair of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Gynaecological Group and lead for gynaecological trials at the Cancer Research UK and UCL Cancer Trials Centre. Her main focus is on treating women with gynaecological cancers, particularly those with BRCA mutations. She has led several Cancer Research UK-funded studies, including ICON9, OCTOVA, and 6MP BRCA trials.
 
Aside from her clinical and research work, Dr Nicum is actively involved in improving services for women with treatment-induced menopause after cancer and those at a hereditary risk of cancer. She is part of parliamentary groups and guidelines consensus groups related to menopause and gynaecological cancer.
