Can’t sing Mr Thompson’s praises enough. Super efficient, kind and personable and above all felt like we were in expert hands. We have followed instructions to a ‘T’, worked really hard on physio and my son is back training and now competing well within 6 months post op.

As a retired physiotherapist I am extremely impressed with the outcome of my knee replacement performed by Mr Simon Thompson. After only a week I was walking with no aids and gained full extension and flexion after 3 weeks. Now, at the 6 week mark I am pretty much back to normal.

Fantastic results, he is tough though and straight to the point. He explains exactly what the rehab entails and expects you, quite rightly to do everything you are told.

My experience with Simon and has staff has been excellent throughout. Some elements of Mount Alvernia Hospital are looking a little tired.

Before Mr. Thompson, my prognosis was grim, needing wheelchair assistance at airports and other venues. But with his kindness, empathy, and medical rigour, I am up and running, delaying the need for knee replacement surgery. But when this time comes, only Mr. Thompson will do.

Thanks to Simon’s expertise and talent I hardly felt any pain following my ACL surgery. With a steady rehab I was able to return doing some of the things I love within a few months. Clair, his practice manager, was incredibly helpful and empathetic throughout the process.

This practice could not be better - the admin and support staff are absolutely 'on it' and kind and considerate. Mr. Thompson himself is the same and quite simply brilliant. When I first saw him I could barely walk or stand the pain I was in - and then a year virtually pain free!

The best orthopaedic surgeon for knee replacement. Mr Thompson is an excellent surgeon and very professional in every aspect. Mr Thompson explained in detail about my total knee replacement surgery. He made me completely comfortable and answered all my questions, even if I repeated them. Mr Thompson’s advice covered all aspects, both pros and cons, of the proposed surgery and he gave me all the information I needed to make a decision on whether to proceed. I would also like to say that he has an excellent support team. Clair Mitchell, the practice manager is extremely thorough and supported me throughout the preparation of the surgery. Thanks to doctor Thompson I have very minimal scars from my surgery and they are almost invisible after 3 months. I regained mobility very quickly and the entire process was both efficient and smooth.

I have been hugely impressed with Simon's work in repairing my damaged ACL. My recovery time has been quicker than expected, and I have felt informed and supported throughout the pre-op and recovery process. Simon has a good manner in dealing with patients and is recommended.

I would highly recommend Simon to anyone. After seeing him back in 2022 with further knee issues, I was efficiently scanned and rightly advised to take the route of non-operative management, following an ACL reconstruction in 2014. An honest doctor who puts the patient first!

I first met with Mr Thompson in May 2022 to discuss ACL reconstruction surgeries to both knees. February 2023 (12 weeks post final op) and all surgeries are now completed including ACL revision surgery to my right knee. A complete professional and supported by an amazing team.

Mr Thompson's care was outstanding. I had seen another consultant who had told me I needed a knee replacement. However Simon took the time to look at my issues in more detail and 3 months after surgery I am pretty much back to normal and looking forward to the cricket season!

Outstanding care. Had surgery in January for ACL and meniscus repair. Ever since the surgery he has been available for me whenever I had any concerns. Been having multiple follow ups with himself and all I have to say about Mr Thomson is positive feedback!

Superb knee replacement 3 years ago followed up with great aftercare from Mr. Thompson. Now an issue with my other knee and very clear explanation of the issues and the process to be followed. Without doubt, Mr Thompson has provided the highest quality of treatment and advice.

Unfortunately, I started this year with two injuries. Simon was able to diagnose me extremely quickly, book me in for two operations, and have two extremely fast healing surgeries. Would definitely recommend him, he saved me this year!

Couldn't recommend Simon more - I had been misdiagnosed for 2/3 years by multiple private consultants as having ITB issues, when in fact I had a torn ACL! Simon spotted this immediately and everything has been faultless since my first consultation to post surgery care

At least 2 weeks prior to the operation I would suggest a call or mail advising that the patient asks family & friends for crutches and to purchase compression socks and waterproof knee protector so they have this in place in time before they go to the hospital for the operation

I had a very positive journey with Simon Thompson during my initial consultations, knee surgery and aftercare. Simon was a very strong communicator and thorough during all consultations putting me at ease ahead of my surgery date. Post operation, Simon went out of his way to connect me with his recommended physio practice to ensure I received the highest quality rehab to aid my recovery.

I saw Mr Thompson after another surgeon had made a mess of repairing a displaced comminuted fracture of my right femur. My prognosis was not good. Mr Thompson removed the original metalwork and rebuilt my femur. Thanks to his skill I am now back doing long mountain walks.
