Allergic Otitis

Otitis ( or otitis media ) is inflammation of the spaces of the ear and, depending on the duration of the disease is classified into different types, subacute (3 to 12 weeks) and chronic acute (0 to 3 weeks) ( over 12 weeks). If the ear infection progresses, the liquid may have otitis ( otitis media with effusion and renamed it ) that may contain liquid like water ( serous ), mucosal ( mucus -like ) or purulent (pus ). The causes are otitis malfunction of the eustachian tube, infection of the upper respiratory tract problems or allergic ( allergic otitis). Generally, bacteria and viruses are the cause of the ear infection. The most common symptoms of otitis include earache, fever and irritability. Sometimes also appears suppuration, dizziness, and more rarely, facial paralysis. In these cases, treatment with antibiotics is sufficient for healing of otitis, although sometimes it is accompanied by nasal decongestants and mucolytics. In patients with chronic otitis, the clearest symptom is hearing loss and its treatment will be determined according to the case.
