Intraocular lenses are transparent artificial lenses used to replace the natural lenses of the eyes when they are damaged. The eye lens is responsible for receiving light rays which carry images, so when the lens is damaged, vision is impaired. Replacing it with an intraocular lens restores normal vision. Normally, intraocular lenses are made from flexible and pliable material and are the same size as the natural lens. The intraocular lens is generally implanted in the eye during cataract surgery.
