Having studied medicine at Middlesex Hospital Medical School in London and qualifying in 1976, Professor Malcolm Rustin has over 40 years of experience and is a leading London dermatologist. Highly established, his previous experience includes working as Vice President of the British Association of Dermatologists, President of the Section of Dermatology of the Royal Society of Medicine and as Chairman of the Dermatology Specialist Advisory Committee of the JRCPTB.
 
He has written over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, many related to pathogenesis of atopic eczema and its treatment. Some of his previous work has also included developing a clinical and research interest in cutaneous immunology as well as carrying out a number of clinical trials. His research has involved determining the effectiveness of Chinese herbal therapy, immunomodulating tacrolimus ointment, laser treatments for rosacea and hirsutism, several biologicals in psoriasis, oral pimecrolimus and high dose intravenous immunoglobulin in the treatment of atopic eczema.
