Professional statement

Dr Neil Gittoes is a Consultant Endocrinologist based in Birmingham, currently leading the metabolic bone disease unit in Birmingham. After graduating in 1990 from the University of Birmingham, Dr Gittoes has gone on to have a very successful career, both medically and academically. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and is widely published with more than 80 articles, reviews and book chapters as well as many appearances at national and international conferences. Dr Gittoes' research focuses on metabolic bone disorders and rare causes of osteoporosis. 

Dr Neil Gittoes also contributes to several charities and professional societies in the UK and currently serves on the Clinical and Scientific Committee of the National Osteoporosis Society, and is on the Council for the Society of Endocrinology. Lastly, Dr Gittoes is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Endocrinology and the same for other journals too.
