Professor Paul Coulthard is a leading oral and maxillofacial surgeon and Professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Manchester. He is also Consultant and Clinical Lead for Oral Surgery at Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, UK. Well-versed in all aspects of his field, he has a clinical special interest in bone grafting and dental implants.
After training in general dentistry in Manchester and Sheffield, Professor Coulthard complemented this with surgical training in Manchester, Carlisle and London, also completing a resident SHO post in anaesthesia. He also completed research training resulting in a MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a PhD in Neuroscience.
With over 130 scientific papers published and being an editor for several prominent journals, Professor Coulthard is a prolific contributor to the field of oral surgery. He is actively involved in teaching and represents the Royal College of Surgeons of England on the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry.
