Mr Richard Penketh is a renowned consultant gynaecologist based in Cardiff. He specialises in endometriosis surgery, fibroids, infertility, pre-menstrual syndrome, endometrial ablation surgery and laparoscopy investigation and treatment.

Mr Penketh began as a consultant in 1996 after extensive training in all areas of gynaecology, infertility and minimal access (keyhole) surgery. He has a special interest in endometriosis, fibroids, premenstrual syndrome and the psychological aspects of gynaecology, including difficulties with intercourse.

He is currently a consultant at The Spire Cardiff Hospital and frequently attends international meetings where he benchmarks the Cardiff teams' activity against world leaders' techniques. Currently, Cardiff is recognised as a British Society for Gynecological Endoscopy Endometriosis Centre and has a UK wide appointed senior trainee.

Besides his areas of expertise, Mr Penketh performs hysterectomies via the vaginal route in most cases; a technique that avoids any scarring. He is currently recognised by the AAGL as a tutor for this approach to hysterectomy. Additionally, he has also helped develop an online symptom tracking tool named Time For Medicine, which helps bring specialist medical diagnoses and treatments to patients at home.
