Mr Cheuk Bong Tang is a leading Essex-based consultant general surgeon specialising in upper GI surgery. Among his areas of expertise are hernia (abdominal wall and hiatal) repair and gallbladder issues, performing gastrectomies and oesophagectomies. He is also well-versed in using modern techniques such as robotic surgery and laparoscopy to carry out surgical procedures. He lead the development of endoscopic surgery for lesions of the stomach and gullet, and introduced RFA ablation (HALO) for Barrett's oesophagus at Broomfield.
A graduate of UCL (University College London), Mr Tang went on to train at post-graduate posts in London, the North-West and Singapore, before pursuing higher surgical electives in Hong Kong and Japan. He was previously the Clinical Lead for upper GI cancer at Broomfield Hospital, and is now the Clinical Lead for upper GI surgery.
