Mr Habib Tafazal is a leading consultant breast and oncoplastic surgeon in Peterborough and Hereford, who specialises in breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery and benign breast lumps alongside malignant breast conditions, preventative mastectomy and breast pain. He privately practises at Ramsay Fitzwilliam Hospital & Nuffield Health Hereford Hospital, and his NHS base is North West Anglia NHS.
 
Mr Tafazal, who integrates plastic surgery techniques with breast cancer surgery to preserve and enhance aesthetic outcomes without compromising disease control, is extensively qualified. After being awarded a BSc in Biomedical Science, he completed his MB ChB at Leicester-Warwick Medical School and furthermore his FRCS with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He undertook higher surgical training at a number of prestigious hospitals in the West Midlands which included a Fellowship in Plastic and reconstructive surgery.
 
Mr Tafazal's work involves treating patients identified through symptomatic and screening services, and he has experience in the use of implants for reconstruction. He has used a variety of smooth, textured and polyurethane-coated implants. He also uses biological meshes for implant-based reconstruction and offers patients both sub-pectoral and pre-pectoral breast reconstruction.
 
He has introduced the use of a complete dermal sling for implant-based breast reconstruction, which omits the use of biological meshes in certain cases and the Goldilocks procedure, which allows for reconstruction using the patients' own mastectomy skin flap.

Mr Tafazal has been trained in lipomodelling and uses this in addition to other reconstructive techniques. He has performed a number of breast reconstructions using the LD reconstruction technique where patients' own tissue and muscle are used.
 
Mr Tafazal's clinical research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
