Professional statement

Mr Miguel Oliveira is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Chichester who sees patients at Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital. He has also worked at the NHS St. Richard’s Hospital since 2010. Mr Oliveira has a specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery, for which he has completed three separate fellowships, both abroad and in the UK.

Covering all aspects of this interesting subspecialty, he performs a range of elective soft tissue surgeries, particularly trauma and joint surgery. Mr Oliveira also has specialist training in wrist surgery, which can often be a particularly challenging field. Mr Oliveira maintains a very active clinical and teaching role, and he participates in the on-call rota for general orthopaedic trauma. Mr Oliveira has extensive expertise in all aspects of surgery in this area, and prior to becoming a consultant, he was a specialist registrar in the South West Thames area. He has worked in many other hospitals in the region.

At Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital, he works alongside Helet Kuhn, an extremely experienced Hand Therapist who is involved mainly in the postoperative rehabilitation of patients. He also often sees patients preoperatively and is actively involved in the non-surgical treatment of conditions that can be treated without the need of an operation.
