Mr Serafeim Antonakis is a highly regarded consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon, who currently treats patients in Southampton, Exeter and Fareham. With over decade of experience in both the UK and Greece, he has built a reputation as a trusted specialist in cataract surgery, retinal detachment and diabetic retinopathy.
After qualifying in his native Greece, Mr Antonakis moved to the UK to develop his skills and experience. He completed his medical retina clinical research fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, before being awarded an honorary position in recognition of his fine work. He then worked at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust as a retinal fellow for two years, until his dedicated work was once again acknowleged, this time with the offer of a senior position. Mr Antonakis completed his final fellowship position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, before accepting the consultant position at University Hospital Southampton which he holds to this day.

From the very first consultation with Mr Antonakis, I felt in very safe hands. Everything was explained in depth and I could not believe how comfortable I felt during the operation while chatting with him. I couldn’t fault the care I received in any way and the outcome is absolutely incredible!!! I can now enjoy again the gorgeous sunsets in Devon!
