Dr Shelley Rahman Haley is a consultant cardiologist in London, Harefield and Hemel Hempstead, who specialises in heart valve disease, particularly mitral and aortic valve disease, and transoesophageal echocardiography. Dr Rahman Haley also has an interest in heart problems in cancer patients (cardio-oncology) who are undergoing chemotherapy or other treatment that may affect the heart.
Dr Rahman Haley qualified from Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine in 1995. She trained in cardiology with a sub-specialist interest in non-interventional cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac imaging at Papworth, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ Hospitals. She was appointed as the first Clinical Lead for echocardiography at Harefield Hospital in 2007.
Dr Rahman Haley now focuses on research connected with mechanical circulatory support, cardiac and lung transplantation and heart valve disease. She has co-authored papers in high-impact journals including Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
