Warts are small skin lesions or growths that are usually painless and harmless. There are many types of warts:

  • Common warts usually appear on the hands and are common in children.
  • Genital warts grow on the genitals an surrounding areas. They are caused by the human papilloma virus and it is advisable to see a doctor if symptoms occur
  • Plantar warts appear on the soles of the feet and can be very painful.
  • There are also subungual and periungual warts that are underneath or around the fingernails or toenails.
