Mr Arif Khan is a senior consultant general, laparoscopic and colorectal surgeon working in clinics across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. He specialises in both general and colorectal surgery, and offers a range of surgical procedures to manage hernias, gall bladder disease, haemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula, anal warts, Crohn’s disease, and IBS.
After gaining his MBBS in 1985, Mr Khan pursued specialist training in London Deanery and University College Hospital and received a fellowship from the Intercollegiate Board of Royal College of Surgeons in 2005. Mr Khan was appointed consultant general and colorectal surgeon at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he was head of the Enhance Recovery Programme in Surgery (ERAS).
As Educational Supervisor at Leighton hospital, Mr Khan is committed to the teaching and training of surgical trainees. He is also actively involved in training other consultant surgeons in minimally-invasive surgical techniques, in his capacity as National Trainer for LAPCO (Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery) and THD (Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation). Mr Khan’s current research interests include colon cancer and colorectal surgery, and his research is frequently cited in peer reviewed journals.
