Mr Maitrey Darrad is a highly respected consultant urological surgeon with fifteen years experience based in Birmingham who specialises in kidney stones, benign prostate enlargement and haematuria (blood in the urine). He is also an expert in urinary tract infections, bladder problems, scrotal swellings and adult circumcisions.
Mr Darrad qualified from London’s Imperial College School of Medicine in 2007 before going on to complete his surgical training and further specialist training in urology in Yorkshire and Humberside as well as in the west Midlands. He sees private patients at the Priory Hospital in Birmingham and at Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull. He is also a consultant in University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
He was awarded both the British Association of Urological Surgeons’ endourology highly esteemed travelling scholarship and the World Congress of Endourology’s fellowship. In the period, he worked in internationally renowned kidney stone centres in south-east Asia performing minimally invasive kidney stone procedures. Mr Darrad is one of the UK’s leading consultant urological surgeons and performs one of the highest volumes of urinary tract stone disease procedures every year.
Mr Darrad is also a prominent name in education and is one of west Midlands' leading tutors for urologists wanting to learn minimally invasive kidney stone surgeries. He travels around the country as a mentor to other consultants performing these operations. He is the lead chair of the interventional urology advisory board for medical education for Coloplast. He leads the clinical urology training program for senior medical students from Birmingham Medical School.

Five stars. Helpful, approachable and informative. I had two lithotripsy procedures. Everything explained and he went through X-rays and CT scans with me, pointing out pros and cons. No sugar coating and set out all options and timescales.
