Mr Richard Carrington is a highly regarded consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in London who specialises in hip and knee surgery, including arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, cartilage transplantation, sports injuries, and patellofemoral joint procedures. As a specialist, Mr Carrington is renowned for his expertise in robotic surgery, as well as custom and revision hip and knee replacements.

Mr Carrington, who consults privately at The Wellington Hospital, qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London in 1989. He completed his higher surgical orthopaedic training at the acclaimed Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital before going on to accomplish fellowship training in joint reconstruction in Harvard, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons for both trauma and orthopaedics. In 2018, Mr Carrington performed the first robotic-assisted total knee joint replacement surgery without the need for a CT scan in a hospital in Europe.

Additional to his specialised private practice, Mr Carrington is a consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where he practises since 2003. He is a member of various recognised organisations, including the British Orthopaedics Association and the Revision Knee Working Group, and served as a clinical lecturer from 1999 to 2001. Mr Carrington has published extensively in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
