Mr Haider Syed is a consultant urological surgeon and kidney stone specialist based in Birmingham, with over 20 years of experience providing modern laser treatment for kidney stone patients. In addition to treating kidney stones, his areas of expertise include benign prostate disease, urinary tract infections, haematuria (blood in the urine), scrotal problems and urological cancers.
Mr Syed began his urology career in 1991. He holds an FRCS in surgery from RCS Ireland and both a diploma and an MSc in urology from the Institute of Urology. He subsequently cleared his FRCS Urology specialist exam in 1999 and went on to obtain a Fellowship from the European Board of Urology in 2001 from Vienna.
Over the last twenty years, he has presented and published clinical work at the World Congress of Endourology, European Urology Meeting, British Association of Urology meeting, both national and international forums and conferences and various journals. As a national urology trainer and a clinical and educational supervisor, he has been training senior registrars in urology for the last 15 years, who are now renowned consultant urological surgeons practising across the world.
He has practised at the Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield for the last fifteen years, since 2005. Here, he collaborates with an experienced team of medical specialists and has set up several special rapid access clinics at Spire Little Aston Hospital including a rapid access kidney stone clinic, one-stop prostate and PSA clinic, fast track haematuria clinic and many more.
