Dr Stefan Ivantu is passionate about the positive use of technology and AI in mental health.
Dr Ivantu specialises in the treatment of ADHD as well as complex and treatment-resistant cases, including those involving self-harm, and personal development. With his knowledge and support from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, he was responsible for leading the development of a new service tailoring treatment for neurodevelopmental conditions.
He has recently begun developing an interest in nutritional psychiatry approaches.
When assessing and diagnosing his patients, Dr Ivantu prefers to take a detailed history and consider all potential causes of distress using the psychological formulation process, rather than using a standard questionnaire.
In his own words: "When a patient comes to see me, I want them to feel understood and cared for as a whole person, rather than a list of diagnoses. Before treatment starts, I will carefully assess your situation and ask for your perspective, so that I can suggest the most appropriate interventions and tailor treatment according to your needs and way of life. I believe in working collaboratively with my patients so that we can make decisions together as a team."
Dr Ivantu graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, Romania, in 2012. Dr Ivantu undertook subsequent training in psychiatry with the Thames Valley Deanery, working in his higher specialty training with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. In 2018 he was awarded membership to The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Ivantu sees patients privately at the London Psychiatry Clinic.
