Mr Jack Gormley

Mr Jack Gormley is a distinguished consultant ophthalmic surgeon based in West Yorkshire. He is renowned for his expertise in cataract, refractive, and laser eye surgery and additionally specialises in corneal surface disease, dry eye and corneal transplantation.

Mr Gormley qualified in medicine in 2009 at the University of Leeds, graduating with honours and receiving the West Riding Prize for his exceptional academic performance. Following this, he dedicated eight years to specialised ophthalmology training, including a clinical research fellowship in diabetic retinopathy and cerebral malaria at the Department of Eye and Vision, Blantyre, Malawi. He was appointed as a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2017 and has additionally gained certification in laser refractive surgery and a diploma in cataract and refractive surgery. Mr Gormley also completed a prestigious year-long fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, the historic birthplace of modern cataract surgery. At his NHS base, Mr Gormley has introduced groundbreaking techniques such as DMEK for corneal transplantation, providing rapid visual recovery to patients with corneal diseases. He is an appointed tutor for the University of Ulster's postgraduate diploma course in cataract and refractive surgery and is also a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists' esteemed Microsurgical Skills Teaching Faculty. Mr Gormley has produced numerous academic publications which appear in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research internationally, gaining recognition within the global ophthalmology community. He is a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
