Dr Catriona Wootton is a highly respected consultant dermatologist based in Reading. She specialises in allergic contact dermatitis and skin allergies. She is also renowned for her expertise in allergy testing, skin patches and patch and prick tests.
Dr Wootton qualified in medicine from the University of Dundee, having previously completed an MA with honours in psychology at the University of St Andrews. She then went on to complete further specialist training in dermatology and various research projects, both in the UK and abroad. This included projects in Laos, where she was given honorary membership of the Laos-Oxford-Mahosot-Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU). In 2008, Dr Wootton was awarded membership of the Royal College of Physicians and several years later also received a diploma with distinction in tropical medicine and hygiene. She has been appointed as a consultant dermatologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2020 and sees private patients at the revered Derma Reading clinic.
Throughout her esteemed career, Dr Wootton has been awarded with a number of scholarships and fellowships with revered professional bodies, including the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and the American Academy of Dermatologists. She has authored several book chapters and numerous academic papers which appear in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. She also acts as a specialist reviewer for various academic journals, including the International Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dermatology. Dr Wootton is a member of the British Society of Cutaneous Allergy Committee and regularly provides clinical training for medical students from the University of Oxford.
The excellence of Dr Wootton’s work and her dedication to her practice has been recognised with several awards, including a nomination from the British Association of Dermatologists for the International League of Dermatological Societies Young Dermatologist Achievement Award. She was also awarded a place on the revered Leadership Development Initiative of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
