Mr Devendra Mahadevan is a highly respected consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon based in Reading, Berkshire. He specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle orthopaedic care, in particular the treatment of sports injuries, bunion and the Achilles tendon. He is also renowned for his expertise in arthritis and ankle arthroscopy.
After qualifying in medicine from the University of Nottingham in 2002, Mr Mahadevan completed his early surgical training in the South West and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2005. He then pursued specialist training in orthopaedics in the East Midlands deanery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2013. Mr Mahadevan later undertook a year-long senior fellowship specialising in the foot and ankle at the prestigious Avon Orthopaedic Centre within North Bristol NHS Trust. He was later appointed as a consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon in Reading.Throughout his esteemed career, he has held a number of senior positions including clinical governance lead for trauma and orthopaedics and is currently clinical director of orthopaedics and trauma surgery within the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Mahadevan sees private patients at Circle Reading Hospital, the Berkshire Independent Hospital and the Spire Dunedin Hospital.
Mr Mahadevan is actively involved in research and his extensive academic publications appear in peer-reviewed journals. He has also authored a number of book chapters in academic textbooks and his contributions to the field are highly esteemed. He is also an elected member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society's scientific committee.
Mr Mahadevan often presents at national and international meetings of colleagues and is a faculty member for several teaching courses, including for the BOFAS Principles of Foot and Ankle surgery course. Patient outcomes are central to his practice and this has been recognised with the silver award for his contributions to the BOFAS registry.
